Founded in 2001 by three French pates made with good and full of good ideas, Ankama Games has managed to create a place in the global gaming landscape. Driven by its two flagship projects, Dofus and Wakfu, the Roubaix company never taken the easy multiplying projects in the video game, while going also explore many other areas. Manga, animation and games, as many carriers that have expanded the universe created by the firm. A dynamic that remains at the heart of the strategy of Ankama, since today is the mobile market that is in his sights. Indeed, after a Battle Dofus hair fell into oblivion is Wakfu Raiders who is about to wash over our phones.
In the world of mobile gaming, there is what is called the soft launch, a practice for a publisher to release his title on a more or less minor markets (Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, etc.). the reason ? Collect data on the use of its game and have the returns of a community of players to improve balancing, test new features and ultimately prepare its global launch. So it was during its soft launch in Singapore we decided to go take a look at the latest addition to Ankama Wakfu Raiders.
Raiders: Parallel worlds
As its name suggests, Wakfu Raiders is in the expanded universe of Wakfu, and therefore takes place in the World of Twelve. Almost, because it is a World of Twelve alternative, born of the dreams of a demigod, son of Ecaflip upset, and appointed Etatim. It will be possible, according to the various levels that constitute Wakfu Raiders, to cross lands and meet well-known figures of the license lovers. Thus, during this soft launch, it is possible to explore at will Incarnam regions, Astrub, Brakmar, Sufokia, Bonta and Amakna. Very Typically, these areas are subdivided into levels filled with enemies to defeat it will continue to progress. Every last level will also be the opportunity to meet a boss time to a generally more difficult fight than others, and asking some preparation. Preparation will be made easier by the ability to replay levels already completed in order to reap greater difficulty various craft materials and evolution. And if, for now, few story elements are present, the final version of the title should suggest a story quite satisfactory.
In terms of its mechanical game, Wakfu Raiders borrows enormously to titles like Puzzle & Dragons, Dragon Blaze and co. As so often, the first step will be to create a team of heroes able to go kick the train each gugusses that will cross his path. Many statistics and a ranking system (from one to five stars) will determine the power of a hero, and its combat effectiveness. History add a layer, each hero will also be affiliated to an element among the six that make up the game. Water, Air, Fire and Earth thus oppose each other in the manner of a rock-paper-scissors while Light and Shadow will form a separate pair is countering each other. The team composition based on these elements, and elements of the troops that we will face, will be capital to triumph easily. Add to this an array of special abilities to unlock and improve for each character, the ability to launch attacks combined with different characters according to their elements as well as a gaggle of equipment (to discover or crafter) capable boost the heroes statistics and obtained a number of quite impressive variations, and tactical possibilities in not knowing what to do.
After completing this preparation phase, it will be time to go face the rabble. There, and it's a shame hair, the player will be almost passive, characters automatically attack the opponents that face them. Charge it though to trigger special attacks at the right time to maximize the damage. Without flipping or innovative combat system that earns a little depth to the extent that both teams (heroes and villains) are placed in three rows, that boost stats in different ways. History to add a little spice, each row must be eliminated in order, from the nearest to the farthest. It will therefore, again, very important to be standing in front of his team capable heroes to collect heavy damage on pain of being swept in a jiffy. All these little subtleties therefore form a rather charming, and very fun to play final.
Content in shambles
Now that we have removed everything that touches the heart of the gameplay, let's perks. For starters, it also offers soft launch to try two other game modes, again very traditional for this type of game. The first, simply called "Arena" provides the opportunity to go to rub other players Wakfu Raiders, team against team. Once the selected opponent, the bout is managed fully automatically and can only assist his victory, or defeat if we miscalculated his move. Obviously, a ranking and dofus kamas rewards system comes spice the thing. The other mode of this game is called "Crypt" and will go get materials necessary for the evolution of the heroes, gold, and experience potions. It consists of different worlds that open one after the other according to the days of the week. Moreover, each level can be achieved only three times a day, to limit farming (which is a shame in my humble opinion). Other game modes should ultimately be available in the final version of Wakfu Raiders, including the ability to play certain missions in cooperation, and improve or create a base to gather crafting materials, but it is impossible for us you talk for now, they are not implemented at present. However, this bodes the best for the diversity of the game upon its release.
Finally talking about the technical side of this Wakfu Raiders, starting with his huge strong point: its graphics. The sprites of the characters and their animations are so beautiful, dressed in bright colors and shimmering very pleasing to the eye, and perfectly in line with the standards developed by Ankama for Wakfu. The decorations, modeled in 3D, will also come out with honors and offer a charming setting in which our heroes evolve gracefully. Sound side Wakfu Raiders are not left with a very nice soundtrack, though a little classic. I must say that the characters are all doubled, which gives an extra charm in combat. Finally, and this is an element not to be overlooked, the application is already extremely stable, and the waiters also seem very strong. During my hours of play, I did not have to undergo any untimely disconnection, and I was able to play just about anywhere without major problems.
